nikki indigo

you are placed on the blog roll IMMEDIATELY.

girl, this was the rawest entry i've read in a long time.

i also meant to comment on your comment at my blog but really, was at a loss for words. there was nothing for me to say except "amen, sista" it was so eloquently stated and in the end, represented how i felt to the tee.

thanks for putting it down with honest emotion, even if that emotion has led to a 'blackout'. ;)

and glad everything is back in sync.

Hawa

@Nikki: I breeze through your blog often although I rarely comment. Raw. Amazing. Award-winning. Those words come to mind when I read your stuff. I consider it an honor that you dropped by my spot!

Just yesterday, I recommended your blog to a friend who is looking for more "real" stuff that people blog. You made that list with ease.

Thanks for the blogroll add. I need to update my page, and you're on the top of the list for "3 Sites You Should Visit This Week." And when I finally get my blogroll updates going, you'll see your talented-self sitting there. :-)

Hawa: you know i'm at a complete loss for words right? i mean, in all the years we've known each other and all the things we've shared, i've not once seen this side of you. i knew it resided deep in the abyss of your being as we all have it in us, but reading about it is so shocking to me.

as you know, i'm not a fighter either, but i know emotional blackouts well and can understand the memory lapses that erupt from having exhibited that amount of fire and passion during a fight. wow!

as i read this, my heart was both torn and happy that you even had to endure this experience, because we all need to have a moment where our committment and love is put to a true life test. you hit the nail on the head when you said, "You've never been passionately in love if you've never fought with passion. Only a fool believes that a fight-less relationship is proof of happiness and compatibility." loving someone with such fury is certainly a testament in the making when a fight takes place out of that fury.

i'm not one who's often at a loss for words, but i'm at a loss right now. between you, Nikki, and Mizrepresent there are so few woman i read that touch, inspire, and encourage me that way y'all do. i feel so honored to be in the company of real women who'll put real life into their blogs without reservation or compromise.

wow! just wow!

love!

amen amen amen
you made some great poitns--especially about the fighting
when we fight I sometimes worry that we can't get along but we fight about stupid stuff--and usually agree on the big issues and/or compromise
still, making up is always fun

GC

okay, I realize I wasn't clear==I meant you made some great points about the value of fighting--people who fight care enough to speak to the issue.

Conservativeblkwoman

This was a great post. You spoke some truth that I really needed to hear regarding the dissolution of your first marriage. I am currently separated and mourning the loss of the fantasy more than the loss of the man.

Thank you for sharing.

Hawa

@GC: Fighting in a healthy relationship is a normal symptom of two people learning how to share a single life. As my fiance always says... folks who say f*uck it to avoid disagreement aren't really deeply engaged/invested in the relationship.

@ConservativeBlackWoman: I thank you so much for sharing that. You represent the reason why I started this blog to discuss marriage/relationships/parenting... because so many need to share about the battle scars and the healing. Of course, that was before I fell hopelessly into the trap of discussing politics. I swear I'll return to relationships after Obama becomes president *wink* hehe

  • APPARENTLY YOU CAN GET EXPELLED FROM CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FOR APPEARING GAY

California courts gave a Christian high school the "okay" to expel two female students who were perceived to be lesbians. The apparent trigger? The girls identified themselves as best friends, and one said she loved the other.

I guess I better stop telling my female friends I love them. Story here for more on this B.S.
